 > Hani Kokkini
Hani Kokkini - Heraklio

  GENERAL INFORMATION

With this name it is known the long sandy beach in front of the homonymous village, almost along the road, quite noisy and crowded in summer. Fully open to the Cretan Sea, it is affected by the northern winds. It is found 12 kilometres far from Heraklion at the East.

Fully organised and very close to Heraklion, the beach offers full accommodation facilities in many hotels of any kind and category, food and drink in several fish taverns, restaurants, beach bars and cafes. Facilities for swimming and sunbathing (numerous sunbeds, umbrellas and showers), safety (lifeguards) and sea sports are also available on the beach.

As it is very close to the road, it is very popular to young people. The beach bars with the loud modern music make it an ideal place for all those preferring "high volume" amusement.

Small anonymous beaches in the area of Chani Kokkini
Apart from the main, organised and noisy beach, at the area of Chani Kokkini you will find several small sandy beaches more quiet and without many people, affected by the northern winds.
If you prefer swimming and sunbathing almost alone, ask the locals about them; they will show you the way and ...have a good swim.

None of those offers any kind of accommodation and food and drink facilities: so, it is advised to take water and refreshments with you. Also you will not find swimming and sea sport facilities (unless you bring your surfing board along!). But the sea is clear, the sand fine and the beach is not packed with people.

Access from Heraklion is very easy by public bus, running very frequently, taxi from Heraklion and rented and private car and motorbikes. And, maybe a few metres walking on the sand.

If you've visited this beach, please share your opinion of it with other travelers. Write or Read reviews!
